Beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Today we commemorate our Lord's triumphal entry into Jerusalem. On the first Palm Sunday, Jesus entered Jerusalem with crowds who were singing, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!” The city received Jesus with great enthusiasm, but it seems that no one invited Him to stay; And leaving them, he went out of the city to Bethany and lodged there. (Matt 21:17) Later that same week, those who had received Him with songs of praise would shout instead, "Crucify him!

Are we like the people of Jerusalem, filled with praise on Palm Sunday yet ready to
crucify our Lord on Good Friday? If we are honest, the answer is sometimes yes. We
have at times received Jesus with great joy but failed to make room for Him to dwell in our hearts. We have praised Him only to later crucify Him by our sins. We all rejoice at our encounters with the Lord in our prayer and the sacraments, but we must be sure to invite him to stay, brothers and sisters! We should feel excitement that we are able to encounter the Lord in the Scriptures, our prayers and devotions, and above all in the Holy Eucharist. Yet these encounters must also bear fruit in our thoughts, words, and actions at all times. 

During this week, I invite you all to meditate on the passion accounts in the 4 gospels. Where do you see yourself? Where do you see Jesus & passion playing out in your life? Praise the Lord for the salvation He won for us in his suffering and death. And don' t forget to invite Him to stay, so that you might enjoy what He promised at the Last Supper: “If a man loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him". (John 14:23)

I hope that your meditation on the Passion leads to a pious and fruitful observance of Holy Week. May we all be renewed by our celebration of the passion, death, and
Resurrection of our Blessed Lord!

Queridos hermanos en Cristo,

Hoy conmemoramos la entrada triunfal de nuestro Señor en Jerusalén. En el primer
Domingo de Ramos, Jesús entró en Jerusalén y fue recibido por multitudes que
cantaban: “¡Hosanna al Hijo de David! ¡Bendito el que viene en el nombre del Señor! ¡Hosanna en las alturas!” La ciudad recibió a Jesús con gran entusiasmo, pero parece que nadie lo invitó a quedarse: “Entonces los dejó, y se fue de la ciudad a Betania, donde pasó la noche.” (Mateo 21:17) Más tarde esa misma semana, aquellos que lo habían recibido con cantos de alabanza gritarían en cambio: “¡Crucifícalo!”

¿Somos como el pueblo de Jerusalén, llenos de alabanza el Domingo de Ramos, pero listos para crucificar a nuestro Señor el Viernes Santo? Si somos sinceros, la respuesta es que a veces sí. En ocasiones hemos recibido a Jesús con gran alegría, pero no le hemos hecho espacio para habitar en nuestros corazones. Lo hemos alabado solo para luego crucificarlo con nuestros pecados. Todos nos alegramos por nuestros encuentros con el Señor en la oración y los sacramentos, ¡pero debemos asegurarnos de invitarlo a quedarse, hermanos y hermanas! Debemos sentir gozo por poder encontrarnos con el Señor en las Escrituras, nuestras oraciones y devociones, y sobre todo en la Sagrada Eucaristía. Pero estos encuentros también deben dar fruto en nuestros pensamientos, palabras y acciones en todo momento.

Durante esta semana, los invito a meditar sobre los relatos de la Pasión en los cuatro evangelios. ¿Dónde se ven ustedes? ¿Dónde ven que la pasión de Jesús se manifiesta en sus propias vidas? Alaben al Señor por la salvación que nos ganó con su sufrimiento y muerte. Y no se olviden de invitarlo a quedarse, para que puedan gozar de lo que Él prometió en la Última Cena: “El que me ama, hace caso de mi palabra; y mi Padre lo amará, y mi Padre y yo vendremos a vivir con él.” (Juan 14:23)

Espero que su meditación sobre la Pasión los lleve a una observancia piadosa y
fructífera de la Semana Santa. ¡Que todos seamos renovados por la celebración de la pasión, muerte y resurrección de nuestro Señor bendito!

Estaciones de la Cruz los viernes durante la Cuaresma Habrá una oportunidad de rezar las Estaciones de la Cruz los viernes de Cuaresma a las 7 PM en la Iglesia. 

Recientemente he notado un aumento en el número de confesiones. ¡Es una buena señal! Sin embargo, los horarios de confesión de los domingos a veces son tan largos que no es posible que todos los que están en la fila puedan confesarse. Recuerde, ¡hay horarios de confesión programados durante la semana! Si puede, aproveche estas oportunidades de confesión entre semana en SPN:

Martes 8:30 AM (las confesiones se escucharan después de la misa de las 8-a. m. hasta que no quede nadie en la fila).

Miércoles 5 PM. - 6 PM

Viernes 8:30 AM. (las confesiones se escucharan después de la misa de las 8 a. m. hasta que no quede nadie en la fila).

Sábado 5 PM. - 6 PM

Confesiones del primer sábado el primer sábado del mes de 9 AM. - 10 AM. (y después de la misa de las 10:00 AM si el sacerdote está disponible).

Horas Santas Mensuales: Ocasionalmente, un sacerdote puede escuchar confesiones durante las Horas Santas de Hombres y Mujeres, que se programan una vez al mes.

Si hay un horario que cree que sería mejor para usted y otros feligreses, por favor, compártanlo conmigo. Si no puede asistir a uno de estos horarios, no dude en comunicarse con la oficina parroquial para programar una cita en un horario que le resulte conveniente. ¡Haré todo lo posible para adaptarme a su disponibilidad!

Stations of the Cross on Fridays during Lent There will be an opportunity to pray the Stations of the Cross on the Fridays of Lent at 7 PM in the Church.  

I have recently noticed an increase in the number of confessions. This is a good sign! However, Sunday confession times are sometimes so long that it is not possible for everyone in line to have their confession heard. Remember, there are scheduled confession times during the week! If you are able, please take advantage of these weekday opportunities for confession at SPN:

Tuesday 8:30 AM (confessions are heard following the 8 AM Mass until no one is left in line.)

Wednesday 5 PM-6PM

Friday at 8:30 AM (confessions are heard following the 8 AM Mass until no one is left in line.)

Saturday 5PM-6PM

First Saturday Confessions on the first Saturday of the month from 9 AM - 10 AM (and after the 10 AM Mass if the priest is available).

Monthly Holy Hours a priest is occasionally able to hear confessions during the Men’s and Women’s Holy Hours which are scheduled once/month

If there is a time that you think would be better for you and other parishioners, please share it with me. If you are unable to make it to one of these times, please feel free to contact the parish office to make an appointment at a time that is convenient for you. I will do my best to accommodate your availability!
